Chi siamo

We are an alpine farming family that lives in Pongello, near Vicosoprano, in Bregaglia Valley in Southern Graubünden. Our alpine farm produces milk, raises breeding cattle, veal calves, chickens and meat goats.

Our alpine farm is located at 1100 meters (3610 feet) with alpine meadows at up to 1600 meters (5250 feet). Our alpine pastures are located at 2000 meters (6562 feet). Our property includes 25 hectares (62 acres) of meadows used for haymaking, located primarily on steep and very steep slopes.

During the last few years, the milk prices have been steadily declining and the production costs are slowly, but surely, increasing. In order to counter this unsustainable trend, we turned our old barn into a modern day cheese dairy that fully complies with commercial food production requirements. We process our own milk and the milk from my brother’s farm, which is located just a few kilometers away. Approximately, 200’000 liters (52,800 gallons) of milk are turned into cheese.

Our agriturismo is more than just the marketing of our products: fresh milk, eggs, soft cheeses, semi-hard cheeses, both mild and aged. The cheese dairy also does demonstrations and conducts tours for one person, groups, classes, clubs and associations. Guests are treated to a cheese tasting and a glass of Veltliner wine.

At our cheese dairy, whoever has the courage and desire can make their own cheese. Together with our cheesemaker there is the opportunity to make your own cheese or try out old recipes that were once used in the high alpine pastures.
